Certified & verifiable
Organic certification you can verify
Our vanilla beans, vanilla powder and vanilla caviar are certified organic by Ecocert, for the European Union and for the United States.
The certification details below link to the official registries, so you can verify them yourself. Certification covers defined activities, products and traceability requirements, not simply the way vanilla is grown.

From producer to export
Certification follows the vanilla
Our vanilla is certified organic at two stages of the supply chain.
- Producer familiesGrow and prepare the vanilla.
- Organic cooperativeCertified organic by Ecocert.
- Lots trackedTraceability kept by the cooperative.
- Sustainable Concepts SARLOur own Ecocert certification.
- Preparation & exportTraceability kept by us.
- Levanillier productCertified products only.
- 01
At the producers’ level
The families who grow and prepare our vanilla are grouped in a cooperative certified organic by Ecocert. This certification is expensive for small producers, so we helped fund it.
- 02
At our level
Our own Ecocert certification covers preparation and export (EU certificate) as well as handling and processing (US certificate).
Traceability
Tracked lot by lot
Organic certification requires lot-by-lot traceability, kept first by the cooperative and then by us. It attests that every lot has been tracked, from the grower all the way to the packaging, without being mixed with non-certified vanilla.
- Cooperative recordsLots identified at the producers’ level.
- Incoming lotWeighed on arrival in Antananarivo.
- ConditioningSorting, drying, resting, grading.
- PackingVacuum-sealed pouches numbered by lot.
- Finished productNever mixed with non-certified vanilla.

Which Levanillier products are certified organic?

What to look for on the label
The EU organic logo appears only on certified products, along with the control body code (MG-BIO-154) and the statement “Non-EU Agriculture,” as the regulations require.
The EU organic logo, used only on certified products.
- MG-BIO-154
The code of the control body, Ecocert.
- Non-EU Agriculture
The raw materials were grown outside the European Union, in this case in Madagascar.
Beyond “naturally grown”
Why certification, and not just “naturally grown”?
In Madagascar, vanilla is most often grown without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. But that practice, however real, is not enough to use the word “organic.”
A farming description. It may be true, but no independent body checks it.
Independent oversight: every lot is tracked, from the grower all the way to the packaging, without being mixed with non-certified vanilla.
Don’t just take our word for it
Verify the certificates yourself
We publish the certification details so you can check the official records directly. A genuine certificate shows the operator’s name, its validity and the products covered.
Frequently asked questions
How can I verify an organic certificate?
The EU certificate can be looked up in the European Commission’s TRACES registry, and the US certificate in the USDA Organic Integrity Database. A genuine certificate shows the operator’s name, its validity and the products covered.
Why aren’t the extract and paste organic?
They are not listed on the current certificate. So we do not present them as organic, even though the vanilla used comes from the same growers.
What does “Non-EU Agriculture” mean?
This mandatory statement accompanies the EU organic logo when the raw materials were grown outside the European Union, in this case in Madagascar.
